Default Visiting Laguna-Seca!!!

Well, I am taking next week off and driving from Vancouver BC Canada to Monterey CA via Highway 1 and yes, I am taking the S2000. In fact, one of the reasons for my purchase of the S2000 is to do this trek. I've done it numerous times but never in a convertible and have been addicted to the idea since Car and Driver did an article about 15 years ago about this reviewer's experience with an RX7 convertible.

One of the things I really want to do in Monterey is to visit Laguna Seca. I've been following auto and motorcycle racing since I was old enough to read, and i figured that it's time to pay hommage. I know that in all probability that I won't be able to drive the track but I'd like to visit it nonetheless.... I was so envious of you all who particpated in the S2k Days and watched the video with major disdain and jealousy. I have a great deal of track experience but never on a major venue like Laguna. I may not be able to control myself and just crash through the gates in my S2000 and get as many laps as I can in until the cops come and haul me off to jail. (j/k)

Also, if anyone had any suggestions of places to visit, restaurants to check out, close by roads to run, things or areas to avoid, please chime in.

Thank!

I had a pretty good experience just dropping in on Laguna Seca several years ago on a similar drive (before the S2000). I think it all depends on what is going on there when you arrive.

I got there during a setup day for the SpeedVision World Challange series, so there were no crowds, just the teams setting up. Somehow they let me drive onto the infield, so I got to look around and talk to the RealTime Acura team (I was driving an Integra at the time). It was great fun.

Of course that's all been eclipsed by getting to actually run there in my S2000 - thanks to everyone who set up the S2KCA Takes On Laguna Seca day!

Be sure to look up the Seattle, Portland, and Bay Area S2000 owners as you pass through. Have fun!

Ted

Take a look here... http://www.laguna-seca.com/00misc.htm

This coming weekend is a Track Quest event, I believe there will be a couple of S2Ks attending. I may be there as well for this. The following weekend there are SCCA races, should be very interesting. There will also be an Auto Cross on 21 April nearby Laguna Seca that many S2Ks will attend, You can too http://www.geocities.com/nasa_autox/ At the very least post something in the Bay Area forum so we can make arrangments to meet up.
