Default Volume of stereo

While driving, how high do you guys put up the volume? Regular street (top up or down). Also on freeway (top up or down).

Is volume 12-14 pushing too much?

hey,

just noticed that you are fellow bay area member. Well, i don't think 23 is pushing too much, cuz it still sounded good and made more room to go? Just my personal opinion. I intened to upgrade mine anywayz.

I can tell you for sure that 12-14 isn't pushing too much at all.

yeah right now im stock, but last night i did order the Alpine HU 9831 for 379 shipped. also purchased the IR DCI thng from the marketplace so when it comes (hopefully this weekend) i will be putting it in. Then after that, its time for me to purchase some new speakers, amp and sub. Im still looking for a good sub box. Thats the only dilemma i have right now. Anyways, i guess when i drive to school right now, ill try pumping 20+. thanks!

30? Jesus man - how do you keep your speakers from distorting at that level...

I usually keep my alpine 17-23 but pushing above 25 distorts...I could reduce the levels but that'd be kinda silly...

Question

I turn mine up about 85% to full volume
I have MB Quarts for the cabin and a 12" Orion H2 sub in the back
I need a bigger amp so I can turn it down some

I have no idea! The radio cover stabs my knee when it's open, so I never open it. I've never seen what numbers I get to with the volume control. If the road/wind conditions are such that I can't get the sterio loud enough to hear clearly without distortion, I turn it off!
