The Ti knob is heavier than the Al.

I had the prototype Voodoo Al knob on the shifter for a time and noted some extra notchiness and I missed a couple of 2-3 upshifts (probably my fault and none contributed by the knob, but what the heck, I was looking for anything that would help).

I switched to the Voodoo Ti knob and found the throw effort 'decreased' or imo improved due to the momentum of the heavier knob through the shift movement.

What on earth would be the point of making the connection to the linkage the same distance, that's not shortening anything but your arm movement just like a shift knob. Whomever has purchased such an item should have their head examined. If I ever purchase a short-shift kit you can bet your last $ that the distance to the linkage itself will be shortened...not just my arm movement. Lengthen the distance below the fulcrum without moving the fulcrum point, thus shortening the distance/time it takes for the lever to reach the gear, this is the only way to actually shorten the shift.

Thanks for your input on the knobs.

I'm beginning to think I bought the wrong knob, I'm thinking you are correct and the color would match better as well. Anyone want to buy a slightly used but in perfect shape spun-al knob with no shift pattern...doh...thought not.

Ah well, it was still worth it, guess I better get out the checkbook again...

A thread back from the dead!
I've changed back to the OEM knob after several months with Muz' countersunk aluminum..just for the sake of variety.
The leather band on the stock knob (I have an '02) just feels so good, no matter what the weather...but I really miss that short, crisp throw. The shift pattern now feels clumsy in comparison.
I'll probably switch back one of these days.
Either way, shifting gears in this car is one of life's little pleasures!
