Default VooDoo Knob Installed

I got my VooDoo knob from Rick's last week and got it installed.

I opted for the standard (non magnum) size in polished aluminum. I am a long-time VooDoo user, I had one on my '96 M Miata (also polished), my '98 Contour SVT (black powder coat), and my '00 'vette convertible (black powder coat). I probably would have one on my BMW but they don't make them.

The ball shape and weight are real nice and the counter sunk nature of the knob makes the shift throws even shorter. About the only real problem with a VooDoo knob is RPS or "Rosey Palm Syndrome" caused by grabbing the knob with a bare hand in either hot, sunny weather or in cold weather. The problem also can occur with the OEM MY2000 and MY2001 knobs.

One low-tech solution is the Crown Royal bag, this is pretty "funky" though. A better solution - really trick - was thought of a few years ago by someone on the Miata mailing list:

Subject: my scrotum has arrived

I ordered one of those kangaroo scrotums from the below link. The folks down
there were as nice as can be, helped me pick out a good one and shipped it
right to me. ( I guess when you have a warehouse full of kangaroo scrotums
you are REALLY happy when someone actually buys one). I am using it to cover
my voodoo knob when I leave my car parked in the sun and so far it has gone a
long way in preventing voodoo burn. I had to trim it a bit to get it to fit, they only
come in light brown and are NOT fuzzy at all (don't know why I figured they would be).
In the winter I think it will do wonders keeping my hand from freezing to the shifter. well,
all in all I am a happy tamabukoro owner. I don't post much to the list but I thought
I'd share this with you. Anyone thinking of buying one I recommend it as a very
unique shifter cover. Thanks to Scott Kirkham for posting the url originally to the list.

There seem to be lots of places now to get your VooDoo knob covers:

http://roosack.com

http://www.walkabout.com/shop/novelty-pouch.asp

http://www.australiagift.com/scrotum_shop/

There seems to be plenty more.

Get a VooDoo knob - highly recommended. And if you find RPS to be a problem, get a "sack".

Meh...I sewed a removable leather ring for my Muz knob. Works great--so much so that I just leave it on most of the time for that leather feel

Rick - I know this is slightly off topic, but I've been trying to get a hold of you (e-mail) about the leather knob cover I ordered from you. Can you PM me with a better way to get in contact with you?
Thanks.
