Default Voodoo Knob Problem?

I just received my engraved, pearl voodoo knob last night and went to install it. Problem is that the engraving lines up exactly face left instead of forward and no matter what I tried I could not get the engraving to face forward and still lock tight. Anyone have any issues with this on their voodoo knob...possibly that they engraved the numbering the wrong direction. Any quick fixes anyone can think of?
I'm hoping I'm just an idiot and there is an obvious solution(to the knob, not ot me being an idiot). Thanks for any help.

What I did is count how many turns it takes to bottom it out. Then pull it back off wrap the treads with about 8 to 10 turns of teflon tape and screw it down one less turn than you counted and stop with the pattern oriented properly. Mine has never come loose since then.

Another method is blue loctite.

The installation instructions (posted on our web site) detail how to install this properly. The problem is that all shifters have the threads cut slightly differant, so there is no way for us to engrave them in such a way that they will line up will all cars/shifters. Loctite blue is the best way to install these, so please look at our installation instructions.

You can also place something like layers of rigid cardboard on top od the shift lever and then put the knob down over it. The amount of cardboard has to be played with to get the ball alligned right. Kind of a pain, really too bad Voodoo does not use a set screw...

I had same problem...buy blue (NOT RED) thread lock and put a good amount over the thread on the shifter. Then screw down your knob until its all the way down and the shift pattern is lined up. Let is set overnight and walla! Its been a few weeks now and no problems.
BTW, this was recommended on their website.

Cool...thanks to my own ingenuity I used the blue loctite I had left over from my Kodokan locks. I didn't see the instructions on their site and wasn't sure if it would hold permanently, but from what you guys are saying I'm sure it will. If not I'll try the thread tape suggestion. Thanks for the help, I'm glad I wasn't the only one with this issue.

yep, a tiny dab of blue (not red!) loctite will set it for you.
