Really sad to see the NSX doing so poorly. It seems as though the car is still underrated to this day. I am a proud S2000 owner, but I had to give my honest vote to the NSX. It was one of the most influential sports cars ever, and as someone said before, without the NSX we wouldn't have the S2000 or any number of world class sports cars that followed. Its a vote for the best Japanese sports car, and I would gladly take an NSX over the S2000 any day.

Dunno about "best". It's a very subjective thing. The S2000 is a convertible roadster. Is that better than a coupe? The S2000 is much more attainable at roughly 40% of the NSX price. Is it better that Honda created 95% of the performance without a "sky's the limit" price tag? The S2000 is steel for the most part not unrepairium. Is it better that the car is easier to maintain? The F20/22C engines always had more specific output than the NSX V6. Is that better? The S2000 gearbox and shifter have always been considered one of the best ever made. Is that better?

The NSX has always looked better of course. I don't think many would argue that point.

I think the NSX was produced and sold in way too limited numbers to score well in a poll like this. Many people have probably forgotten about the car. That fact makes a statement in itself.

If they'd have included a "for the money" condition, the S would be the winner. They didn't, so the NSX ended up with my vote.

Buying the car today and with my money, the S2000 is the best car hands down. That's why I have one

For my money (and that's a factor) nothing on that list can touch the MX5 (Miata) for capable, rewarding, grin inducing, balls out fun.
No other Japanese sportscar has been so influential.

My S is lovely, but, for what it's worth, my vote goes to something smaller, sweeter, lighter and much slower........

True that. The Miata / MX5 kept the flame alive in North America when all other roadsters dissappeared in the 80's. One by one all the traditional suspects sped off into oblivion.....Triumph, MG, Alpha. The S2000 and BMW Z weren't even on the drawing boards. And then along came Mazda with much better quality than the Europeans, very good overall performance for the day, and a very affordable price. And, Mazda has stayed true to that vision since. They deserve a standing ovation.
