Absolutely true. Even though I love my S2000, the fact that the Miata has stood the test of time (released in 1989 BTW) over the last 20 years really means something. I think that if not for the Miata, there wouldn't be an S2000.

I definitely give my proper respect to Mazda.
Respect to Mazda yes, but is it the better sports car? Honda obviously noticed the Miata, but Honda made the best sports car possible. Mazda left cards on the table, they could have made an amazing, powerful, and safer version. They chose to make a cheaper, lighter one that would be desired by more and affordable by anyone - which is a great market strategy.
I believe part of what makes a car a true sports car is that it takes a real enthusiast to truly appreciate its beauty in engineering and ability. The affordability was foresight that Honda had knowing that their reliable car is now available to just about anyone who wants one.

The Miata may have made Honda more confident in a market for the S2000, but keep in mind that there were at least three previous S-cars before the S2000, all of which shared more basic design philosophy with the S2K than the Miata does.

Voted. S2000 is up there for me but I do think the best/most influential was the 240Z (Z series).

They are basically boosting up the Evo by voting multiple times. Apparently deleting your cookies allows multiple votes...
