I believe that would be the effect of the CDV.

I never had problems with the clutch slipping in my AP2, but I could burn out and bark the tires (oem, rt615s, and star specs) like noone's business.
Not really. The clutch slippage can happen even after the CDV is removed. Certainly was the case of my MY04, for both me and it's subsequent owner. Others have posted about this on s2ki as well.

From personal experience, VSA i perfect for me for DD. B/c if i am on the streets and not on a group drive and i turn it off usually involves a ticket. not saying u wouldnt get a ticket with it on. but would u rather have it off and forget to turn it on in a middle of a rain storm?

i think turning it off is a placebo effect. just 'cause u can spin tires doent mean there is more whp. well actaully, i can spin in first gear when rolling and smashing my foot down for a little bit before vsa kits it.
