Hey guys I have a quick question as I have never experienced this before....I tried searching, but couldnt find the answer in a previous thread. Today when I vtec'd in third and fourth gear getting onto the fwy, I noticed that the vtec kicked on at 6200 or 6300 rather than RIGHT at 6k. The car was fully warmed up, had driven with 3 bars for 10-20min, oil level is ok, maybe a couple X's low. After that happened in third and fourth, I tried it again and again but it consistently came on right at 6K and still does now, any takes on this?

 

Vtec engagement will vary with throttle position. If you wind up with 1/2 throttle it delays going into vtec until higher rpms.

 

I believe from 5500 and on I was at wot, but before I may have been at partial throttle, is this how you are saying it would affect engagement, or do you mean if you were at partial throttle the WHOLE time?

 

It works on the basis of oil pressure so that will never be an exact constant if you know what i mean.

 

well sideways was right, I posted it in the other thread....I went out and tested it and was able to duplicate exactly what happened, I must have not had it at wot when I hit vtec....
