Default Vtec Adjuster

Someone I recently ran into was telling me about a V-tec adjuster. He said it allows you to lower the "rev point" at which it kicks in.

Anyone heard of this?

Field makes one, so does Apexi V-afc, also about 2 others whose names escape me at the moment. It basically lowers the point the Vtec "kick-in" point. Very good mod especially for this car as it should bring the max Hp down in the rpm band to a more usable range.

Stocke VTEC engagement on the S2000 is set at 6000 RPM's. With the V-AFC (or other VTEC controller) you can lower the VTEC engagement to 5600 RPM's, any lower and you'll start loosing.

how much more effective will the Vtec be at 5600? Is there a control box for adjusting or is it a fixed feature?

If you use the Apexi V-AFC it's just a matter of pushing the buttons monitored by the LED style dispaly. Very easy after it's hooked up.

What is the performance advantage Apexi V-AFC adjuster? Noticable???? or Minimal? Does it risk harm to any other components?

The V-AFC also allows for air/fuel mapping across the RPM ranges. You'll get more benefit form this than the VTEC engagement changes on an S2000. 10-12 HP has been seen from using V-AFC on stock S2000's.

Do you have any actual documentation on these HP gains?
