Default VTEC Controller on an AP1

What VTEC controllers or AFC are out there that can allow the vtec to initiate sooner? My car being stock, will this be a pointless purchase? About to be adding an intake, throttle body spacer, new plugs, maybe a chip. Thanks in advance!

I picked up 10+ whp from just a VAFC on my '01 AP1...

Oh no not the CHIP...... thats 200whp alone. You won't need a VAFC if you have a chip man.

"Save your money, it's not worth it." <- Is the general consensus for the community.

Mr. Na20 is gaining "10hp" but with a tune......so in essence he spent a couple bills on a vafc.....and then a couple more on a tune/dyno time......with that kinda money invested I don't know if it's worth it.

JMO

BTW with the lack of knowledge you are presenting I would

A professional tune?..

If you read the thread you would see that I tuned it myself; but I probably could have made more power if I let a professional tune it..

I went with a VAFC since I have an early model AP1 which I have read, has very conservative fuel maps... You can see how rich the AFR was and by leaning it out it gained power...

I have read threads about headers and exhausts costing much more than a VAFC with tuning, and making power ranging from loses to gains of 8whp...

I think its worth it....

Fine, you tuned it yourself. I was incorrect.

But like I said

no searching gives you x number of new owners asking about them and which one to buy.

From the elders of the site - who have used vtec controllers most have said they aren't worth it. (the people that actually matter IMHO)

Here is a search Result worth looking at - that also answers this question.

anything else.....if not it'll be locked tomorrow.
