Are the chips pretty much overrated? Especially with the 02' ECU?

Please link me to this "chip" you are referring to so I know what you are talking about.

I'm talking about any chip really. I know Venom makes one and a few others like JET.

I seem to recall JET being a company that is quick to take your money and give you a sealed black box (ECU) with a couple wires coming out of it and nothing inside the box except maybe some wires and resistors.
At least that's what I remember reading about on NewCelica back in the day.

MO POWA!

no searching gives you x number of new owners asking about them and which one to buy.

From the elders of the site - who have used vtec controllers most have said they aren't worth it. (the people that actually matter IMHO)

Here is a search Result worth looking at - that also answers this question.

anything else.....if not it'll be locked tomorrow.
I have read alot of those threads and many people felt that the VAFC was not worth it because of the ECU Fuel Trim, which only occurs in Partial Throttle (Closed Loop) Tuning...

The VAFC is great for WOT (Open Loop) Tuning since it only takes effect when you really need it when pushing the car hard..

For Partial Throttle, the Stock ECU's Closed Loop operation works great in keeping your car running smooth and reliably..
