VTEC not engaging

The conditions you indicated are not signs that VTEC is not engaging. Just because you can no longer hear or feel the transition doesn't mean it's not happening. If the secondary lobes are not engaging, your car would not perform as it did before and you say that "it runs like always".

check your oil and make sure its not low.

Just for my curiosity, has your battery been disconnected really recently or your ECU reset?
