vtec q
Don't act retarded amirgho.
Ap1 vtec sounds a bit more raw to me, and it goes all the way to 9k, so it's a little different IMO. Of course you can always get an aftermarket exhaust or intake to really let the sound come out.

flame on! there is more power everywhere!!! but seriously, the ap1 does sound awesome at 9K. i had the opportunity to drive an ap1 for about a month and boy what a month. im surprised that i didnt kill myself! because of me being used to the ap2 handling and VSA. the ap1 is a raw animal that is hard to tame. many will step up to tame the beast. some will lose. only a selected few will be able to master it.
it's probably a slightly(unnoticeable) harder pull when in vtec and not, because ap2's do make slightly more power.
it feels crazy in an ap1 just because the difference in power before and after vtec is larger than in an ap2. so it feels a bit more intense.

Ap2's make like a whole 5 hp more and they have a higher curb weight which negates any HP advantage. Ap2's do have more usable low end torque which around town makes them feel faster. I drove a 2005 for a while and it was a much more well mannered car than my Ap1 around town.
Nothing beats the 3,000 rpms of VTEC on the F20C...the sound is great...I get wood.

JLUDE its more complicated than that.
The f20c makes around 120 hp at 5.5k, 140 hp at 6.5k.
The f22c makes around 140 hp at 5.5k, 160 at 6.5k.
Curb weight difference is negligible.
So the AP2 has about 20 more horsepower and that horsepower is available sooner - starting around 3k rpm vs 6k in the AP1. That, plus gearing and the lower torque map is why AP2s feel so much stronger below VTEC - they are.
At any rate, I thought about this some more, back when I was driving AP1s and AP2s back to back. The AP2 gives you the sound much like the AP1, just not the kick, since you're basically getting power delivered earlier and smoother than in the AP1. AP1 however runs to 9k, so you get more of that top end scream.
