Default VTEC question......

Alrite, I went to Mitsubishi dealer last night to get a car for a friend of mine. The dealer said that VTEC technology is actually discovered by Mitsubishi, and every vtec engine has a small three-diamond logo on it. And I asked, why Mitsu cars dont have vtec on it, he said he doesnt know.

Hmmmmmmmmmm

The saying of "don't trust dealers" apply to Mistus as well.

BTW ask that guy how VTEC works and the history, ie when it was first introduced, but you he won't know.

Mitsu also invented the light bulb, but they allowed Edison to take the credit because they're shy

Think about, if they did invent vtec, then why didn't they use the technology in the eclipse, 3000gt, etc. . .

Bottomline, the dealer was either:
a. deliberately lying
b. completely unknowledgable
c. full of s**t
c. all of the above

I heard that too. I wonder why Mits. has gotten rid of all of their US based sports cars, they must be working on a $20K Viper Killer.

Mitusbishi has their own version of variable valve timing. It's called MiVec. The FTO GPX has this system. Thing is, most auto manufacturers these days have some form of variable valve timing or other. I doubt Mitsu were the inventers of it though since it was Honda that held the patent on it.
