VTEC'd... and a railing got in the way...
Hi all... long story short, I VTEC'd, spun, and a railing got in the way of the left-side of the rear bumper... don't know if it can be repaired or must be replaced. Anybody have an idea of the cost for a rear bumper? What's a good body shop in Atl? Especially around Duluth (Gwinnett County). I'd post pics but I can't... sorry can't write longer. still bummed out...
(yes yes... I know....don't VTEC on wet roads)
Thanks a bunch!

repair price depends on the inside of the bumper also.
theres a frame thing right inside, and its not that uncommon
to damage that frame when gettin damage on the bumper.
but as my exprience they just straightened the frame without replacing it and recommend me to replace the bumper, cuz it doesn't cost fortune.
it was around 500 bucks.
but then it was accord coupe.

Back there you have the bumper cover, the impact absorber and the reinforcement. Based on the severity of the impact, all three might have to be replaced. Was the bumper dented in, if so, how far. If you just scraped the rear bumper then you can get away with it being repaired, if its ripped or has a large dent then you most likely will have to replace the cover. The impact absorber is just a piece of styrofoam, and I am not even 100% sure if our car has one. I can check tommorow at work, as I am a claims adjuster and check the schematics of our car. You never want to fix a reinforcement, if its compromised you have to replace it.

you sad that you were looking for a good shop in the atl area? i used to live in lawrenceville and now i live in kennesaw. the best shop i can reccomend that matches paint PERFECTLY is Honda Carland Body Shop on alparetta hwy. they only do hondas and acuras. i had some work done on my old rsx and it was flawless. give them a call whatever you do DO NOT take your car to Peach paint and collision. trust me

Funny. . . I went to South Gwinnett and used to have an RSX.
Try Gerber Collision on Satellite Blvd- near Gwinnett Place Mall. 770-232-1200. They do a pretty good job. They will also valet pick up/return your car. You also get a lifetime warranty on the repairs.

Check www.s2000atlanta.com, club members get a discount at Platinum Collision but it's near I-285/I-75 on the North end of the perimeter. They do good work and know our cars very well.
