Not sure if this site has been posted or not because I did not read through the whole thread but if you just go to:

it is a very quick and easy site for resizing images for avatars and such

upper left, start button, edit options, at the bottom of the page. Change avatar, You can upload an avatar from your computer: browse button, your c:/ drive folder for the .gif you want.

To get the images smaller (in kb terms) i use Acdsee's picture enhance. I dont know exactly what it does because the quality is almost the same, but it gets them alot smaller.

Give it a try if you need 2

Thanks for the link to that website. That site is pretty handy, except for picture quality but that's probably just me.
