Default warm air vents...normal??

i find that the air that comes out of my air vents (when the AC is off) is unusually "warm". even when the temp is 65 degrees outside, i find that i have to either turn on the AC or open the window to feel comfortable. i make sure the temp dial is all the way to its coolest setting and set the air source to "fresh", but still the air is warm. anyway, i was just wondering if others have experienced this and if this is normal for the s2k, because i've never had this happen with my previous cars.

i believe the HVAC system provides for CONSTANT (but minimal) air flow at all times when the engine is running - even if the fan/system is off (i.e. no green lights are on).

use the temp dial to adjust the temp - it DOES adjust it.

I have the same issue. Even when the temp setting is all the way to "cold".

On some of these HOT days it sure would be nice to not have additional warm air blowing on you.

i should have clarified.....

it DOES adjust the temp, but only to approx. ambient.

if it's 95 degrees outside, you won't get it down to 50 (unless you turn the A/C on).

I've got the same problem. Warm air coming through the vents even with the temp control set all the way to max cold. I've also been turning on the A/C periodically to compensate. Anyone know what's causing this and how to fix it?

Press the recirculate button, it will stop any air from coming out of the vents when the system is off.

It's just air that's been sitting in the system. Residual heat from the last time you drove or sun has warmed it up, that's all. Turn the AC on for 5 seconds to cool off the pipes. End of problem.

When you're driving with fresh air selected (non-recirculating mode), outside air, warmed somewhat by the engine is pushed into the vent system from the outside, even when the fan is off. Every Honda I've ever owned was like this. It was even more pronounced in my old Integra when the sunroof was cracked because of the aerodynamic suction effect. To stop the airflow, switch from fresh air to recirculating.
