Default Washed S2K with top down!?!?

Has this ever happened to anybody!? Your ready to wash you S2K and you tell your son to bring the car into the driveway cause you don't feel like doing it. But you don't realize that he puts the top down when he pulls it up to the driveway. The next door neighboor comes, and you start up a conversation. You take your hose out and start spraying the water onto the car while looking away talking to a neighboor. Then he starts to laugh wildly without any reason or explaination. You turn around and you see EVERYTHING wet, from the radio to the leather seats. Then after looking like an idiot and after 2 hours of cleaning up. You retreat to your den to cry yourself soundly to sleep. This happen to anyone?!?!?

No, but I did occaisionally wash my miata with the top down, it was pretty easy to do, especially if I had the tonneau cover on and zipped up. Just have to be careful.

9 times out of 10 I wash mine with the top down. Why wash the top when I almost never use it. Sometimes I get a small amount of overspray in the car.

Ditto. It's very easy to wash and rinse the car with the top down if you don't use a spray nozzle.

i put the top up for no particular reason when washing, other than thats the only time it is ever up...
dont wash the top, just the rest of the car. the top still looks new, but i guess after a year maybe i should wash it!!???
i saw a suggestion to use vinylex on the top, but i have not yet done that either. maybe i should wash it, vinylex it and be set for the next year-

If you don't, you mind be hearing some unpleasant creeeeeeeeeeaaaakkks when putting the top up and down in a couple of years. Just some advise
Here, here. Even with the cover over the top while it is down my well, window and top get filthy with fine dust. I suggest you wash the top at least every other wash.

I agree that the top should be washed, and that there is a risk of long term damage if you don't. There are cleaners and protectants made specifically for tops. I use Ragg Topp cleaner, which can be used with or without water (nice option in the winter). I also use Ragg Topp protectant. Also, be sure that the top is completely dry before putting it down.

The last time I had my top up I washed it. In the last 4 months I have only put the top up 2 or 3 times and was washed before I put down. My top only goes up if I have to drive in the rain and I do not lower until it is washed and dry. It may rain Friday so I might get to see the top again but I hope not. Topless is the only way to go.
