Just Wondering...

How do you wash your S2000 in the winter? With it being in the low 40's today here, how does one wash his car when its so cold? My hands will get hypothermia trying to wash it. Any advice? Just don't wash it for a few months?

Cmnsnse said something about neoprene gloves. My vote's in for simply moving further south!

I just roll it out in the driveway, throw on a pair of swim trunks and have at it.

Oh, wait, this was directed at people who live where water freezes in the winter time!

Sorry, my bad!

I must confess my sin for which I'm sure I'll be roundly criticized. On more than one occasion I have put my baby through a self-serve Mobil brushless car wash! There, I've said it and I feel much better now. After washing, I return home and dry her off in my garage with the Absorber, a wonderful faux-chamois found at Walmart. I have promised to make it up to her next spring if not before on some unseasonably warm winter day: Hand wash/dry and a coat of Zaino lovingly applied, followed by a brisk top-down drive. Let the flames commence!

I dress warmly and use scalding hot water in the bucket! Hands are happy...

Go to Home Depot and get yourself a heavy duty set of chemical-proof gloves. I like mine well enough that I use them all the time, not just in the winter.

As long as the temp is above 32, you can wash the car without any problems.

Squeezer, I retired from WL GORE (Gore-Tex) and I have a pair of gloves which have a Gore Tex insert for waterproofness and a thermal exterior. They are not bulky and they keep your hands both dry and warm. I dont like neoprene, although they keep your hands dry, they do not have good thermal characteristics. I bicycle all year long and have tried them all. You can get the gloves from a Bicycle shop as well as a good outdoor wear store. Try washing your car in a quarter car wash using only water if your car is not super dirty or salt coated and fill a bucket with the water from the hose to wash it down. The soap may remove any wax but not certain. They are also protected somewhat from wind and the rice burners dont use them in cold weather so your ears are protected from the noise. Go to your local Walmart and buy a pair of of "wet suit type" gloves that they sell. As I remember they are in the sporting goods section. I have used them riding my motorcycle in the winter and their insulating value is very good.
