I just bought my car used with 3000 mi on it last week. The next day when I opened up the trunk there was a boatload of water underneath the tool kit. I took some towels and dried it up and figured that the used car dealer I bought it from spilled some water back there or something. S those in the DC area know the other day there was a heavy mix of rain and snow ofr the whole morning. When I looked in the trunk the water was back which leads me to believe there is a leak somewhere. Is this a common problem with an easy fix? Anyone heard of this? Ive already made an appointment to get it looked at so I can get the tranny fix while Im there. Thanks in advance.

That's anew one. Take a close look at the trunk seal all the way around. The seal is the most likely point of failure.......

Here's what happened to me. I put what I thought was a slightly damp car cover in the trunk for a ten minute drive to the bus stop. I was intending to pull it out when I got there and put it back on the car for the day. Never happend, got in a hurry and forgot about it. Well, that cover holds a "boatload" of water as you say. You will have to remove the entire carpeted floor to get to all of the water. Beneath the tool kit and floor is another 2-3 inches of depth that is more than likely full of water as well.

You may want to take a real close look at the car and make sure it wasn't involved in an accident. Check the fit of your body panels and make certain there is no misalignment between panels.
Water in the trunk is unusual unless as pointed out you have a problem with the gasket around the opening.

Hondas in the past have had trunk leaking problems when spoilers have been installed. Whoever installed the spoiler may have screwed up and made the holes to big and the washers don't stop the leaking.
