Default Ways to check on used S2000?

I am looking to become a first time S2000 owner. Unfortunately I can only afford a used one. I want to make sure that I do not buy a lemon or bad car and wanted to get some advice on things I should look out for. Here is the info on the car:

2001 S2000
11,000 miles
VIN: JHMAP11491T003257

Can anyone help me with info on what I should look for when I go check out the car in person?

Can someone PM me to help me out with a CarFax or AutoCheck report on the car?

Does anyone know if you can call the State Highway Patrol or local police to run a VIN # check to see if a car has ever been in an accident?

I am really nervous about buying a bum car. I appreciate everyone's help! Hopefully I will get the car and become a proud owner of a S2000. I have owned Honda's my whole life and they are great cars!

Thanks in advance,
John

you can go to carfax.com and buy a personal subscription to their service. then you can run all the reports you want. it costs twenty-something bucks for the subscription and is a good investment if you're going to drop $20K ++ on a used car.

Carfax is OK but you really need to take the car to a mechanic and a body shop that you trust. Have the body shop put the car on a lift and give it a thorough inspection. If you are enough of an avid car fan to buy an S2k, please make sure you get a pristine example, or you will kick yourself later. A wrecked '99 Taurus is one thing but it may disappoint you later to know that your baby S2k is damaged goods.

Thank you for the info Karl! That is what I am really worried about. The S2000 is an awesome car but I would kick myself if I bought a wrecked one. I am trying to do everything I can to make sure the car is in good condition.
