Default Weapon R Intake With K&n Good?

I can get a Weapon R for about 60 bucks. I already have a direct stock replacement k&n right now. Would this replacement fit onto the weapon R perfectly and would the weapon R thus be more effective instead of the crappy sponger filter? thanks!

I thought that the sponge was just a cover for the filter itself. I guess I learned something.....

Fitment probably depends on the tube diameter. If it isn't the same and you like the performance of the K&N style filter......save another 60 bucks and get a higher end intake. Just a thought...

the design of the weapon R is poor. You're better off with the stock aibox.

why is it poor ten? I read some of the past posts and it seems like a member who had a similar type has the most HP gain with this weapon R type. I mean with the weapon R combined with k&n I'm thinking it would be better than the stock. Wouldnt the weapon R filter show some HP gains and should be in the same ball #s as the other air filters. Sorry just reading the search archive stuff and I still have a few Qs afterwards. sII2k what other filter is out there for an extra $60 bucks? I'm about to buy some lucid rears and thought about buying an intake also but I don't want to push the budget out there. If the ony diff is 2hp frome ach intake than its not a bid deal. Any other weapon R users out there? If I'm losing HP from it than thats not good!!

before some people with the intake get pissed, I'll post a link to a thread I started about the physics behind intake design. You can read it and decide for yourself.

thanks ten looks like it will have some good info. I mean in the worst case scenario I can't lose HP with the Weapon R correct or can I? Plus I'd really like to use my K%n on her but it be waste of money if she didn't bilt on right and I'd have to buy another filter which fit the weapon R.

I'm not saying it's guaranteed to lose hp, just that it is possible. I put in an AEM v1 knowing that the gains if any would be minimal. But it sounds so much better than the stock box.

edit: typos
