Default Weatherstripping replaced...

(not sure which forum this should be under.)
Has anyone had their weatherstripping replaced. I got mine replaced on Thursday. I dropped it of at 11:45 a.m. and I called at 5:30 p.m. since no one called to say it was ready (was told it would take 3-4 hours) and the service rep. said he was printing the paperwork right then. I picked it up by 6:15 p.m. and they put 8.8 miles on it! WTF!?! Why did they have to drive my car around for almost 9 miles! All they did was replace te weatherstripping and fixed the "cigarette lighter" plug. AND IT STILL LEAKS!!!!!!!! It's been raining and the passenger side is all wet from the leak! Anyone else have this leak?

And yet another story to add to the growing list of horror stories. It's becoming apparent that it is almost imperative to document the mileage at time of drop off and get it put on the work order that the car NOT be driven unreasonably. Hopefully the lot boy didn't take it for a joy ride or the sales staff didn't let some prospective customer take it for a test drive.

I can't believe the milage. And to think there's nothing they'll do but deny it. We should bring our own contracts and have the shops sign them. What would be bad about that?

When I got my top replaced I marked down the mileage. Only 1/10th of a mile was doc'ed. That was acceptable going in and out of the shop.

Yeah, I wrote down the mileage when I dropped it off and reset the odometer to 0. I asked the service dept. rep. why they drove my car for almost 9 miles. He said (nervously) --"I can't think of a reason why they would drive it around...Oh yeah, they drove it around to test the weatherstripping for noise (I can understand 1-3 miles). It would have been one of our young guys if it was driven around but the tech who worked on your car is like 6'4" and 48 yrs. old, he wouldn't go for a joy ride. We get these S 2000's in all the time so it wouldn't be anything new to drive it, they drive it all the time when we get new ones in-it's no big deal, etc..." Like they would put miles on a new S 2000 that came in!! The radio was even on some Tejano radio station ( BTW, I left my N.I.N. cd on when I dropped it off.) Next time I will wait the entire time! I used to not be so anal but after reading everyones' concerns and experiences on S2Ki, I am more attentive and anal. Why can't I get all the services done at Gunn-Acura! I know, I know the warranty is with Honda...

Good help is so hard to find these days... I bring my S2000 to my Acura dealer and have the same Master Tech who works on the NSX work on the S2000 as well.

Are you sure it's the weatherstripping that's leaking? Many cars have had wet passenger side carpeting from a kinked AC condenser drain hose. If you've been running the AC in the rain (it comes on automatically with the defroster, and you might not even notice), this may be your problem.

Thanks for the suggestion but it's definitely from the weatherstripping because I can see the rain dripping from the "joint" part of the weatherstripping. Saw my Honda dealer last night--told me they will need to order another one. Mentioned the 8.8 mile drive, said "yes" it probably was a "test" drive and that they probably did it twice because the route of the test drives are around 4 miles so.... but I still don't think so. Lesson learned--it's just a car and I must stay with it when in other peoples hands.

I don't know about this test drive thing for a weatherstrip leak. Wouldn't a garden hose do the same thing? I also remember somewhere in the Helm manual (or was it in another manual) where the window glass itself needed to be adjusted to make it press harder against the rubber (to squish it more). The angle of window glass can be altered slightly in all cars but it's a much bigger job so perhaps they didn't want to do this if the fix was easier. Maybe that's what you need.
