Anyone tried to reduce the weight through various changes? Beside dieting, the only things i've done is changing the wheels to lighter, forged allloy, leaving the trunk as empty as possible, and not filling gas to full.
I'm thinking of leaving the spare tire and boot in the garage and just depend on my AAA card.

Well, I am working on losing 50 pound for the driver. The driver is way overweight.

Change to Recaro SPG seats, the carbon fiber version. Then get the Amuse carbon fiber bonnet and trunk hood. After that get the Amuse titanium exhuast. For wheels get the Spoon or Volks in 16 inches. Remove spare.

The one I am not sure of is the Mugen headers. I think it is lighter than stock but I can't confirm it.

You WILL save over 100lbs with it, the difference can DEFINITELY be felt. Cost is over $15000. This was my dream setup. The car is pretty maxed out in NA form and weight losing is the only way to go. You still maintain the civilness as well, not like a stripped out race car.

Unfortunately, I found out that combo is illegal where I am going in a few years so I went with an all Mugen setup instead.

PLEASE DO IT!!! It is driving me nuts that I can't realize my dream.

It all depends on what your AAA card weighs.

SixthGear,

You started in the correct area by going with forged wheels. Reducing unsprung and rotating mass are the areas to concentrate on. Lighter wheels will improve acceleration, braking, handling, ride, fuel consumption and emissions.

The only other pieces that can have the same pay back are brake rotors. Someone on this forum is working on ceramic composite rotors. This mod is expensive but can reduce weight by some 30-40 lbs. Check BrakeMan for some fabricated steel rotors that are not as expensive but do not reduce the weight as much.

No no no, the key is for the car to remain a road car and not race car.

And the Amuse titanium headers do exist according to this thread. GASP! Weight savings of 15Kg.
