Weight Difference of hard top and convertible?
lol iv'e had the car for over a year, iv'e driven with the top down alot, i just PREFER the top up...
like i said when i want it down ill take off the hardtop, its not a big deal...ive already decided that im keepin this car a loooooooong time, ive driven other vehicles that compare to the s2k and theres nothing like the
experience, and i was thinking about putting a a 10" sub and amp if it would fit where all the convertible stuff used to be...
so does anyone know if theres a noticable diffrence in speed with only the hard top and no convertible parts?
Thanks, Ryan

Oh, sorry thought you were just getting the car.
If you remove that softtop and add audio equipment there won't be a difference.
Try this. Find someone that is 100 lbs (hot girl will do), sit them in the passenger seat, drive around. Take that person out. Drive around again. That's similar to what the difference should feel like, will be slightlyless due to ratios though.

Weight is evil and removing it will not only help acceleration, but your car will handle better, stop faster and pull more g's--whether you race your car or not. So far nobody has been able to figure out how to unbolt 300lbs from the S2000 all at once, so until then, shaving 20, 10, 5 or even 1/2 a lb. at a time is the only way to get your car down to a lower weight. And aside from drilling holes in your car, just about any weight saving mod you make to your car is easy to reverse when it comes time to sell, so resale value isn't going to suffer (hey, if I ever sell my car it'll take 15 min. to put my brand new carpet and seats back in).
With that said, the hard top/convertible is one of the last places to start when trying to shed weight unless you're going dry carbon fiber. The hard top weighs around 40 lbs; Convertible top, motors, etc. weigh at most, 60. There are easier and cheaper ways to lose weight. An Optima battery will shave almost the same amount of weight, costs less than 100 bucks and you won't have to sacrifice anything. Of course it won't drive an amp and a 10" sub....you can't have it all.
