The weight difference between the soft top assembly and OEM hardtop is roughly 20lbs.

Oh, sorry thought you were just getting the car.

If you remove that softtop and add audio equipment there won't be a difference.

Try this. Find someone that is 100 lbs (hot girl will do), sit them in the passenger seat, drive around. Take that person out. Drive around again. That's similar to what the difference should feel like, will be slightlyless due to ratios though.
Are you trying to tell him it will feel better driving around without the hot babe in the passenger seat. Maybe he's trying to shed the 110 lbs so he can carry two hot babes.

if you completely remove the soft top, it's motor, and wiring, then add the hard top, you save 40lbs. there was a recent thread on this. and that's IF you go with a carbon fiber hard top.

in other words, no you won't feel a difference, and it's not going to really be much faster.

Nobody is correct about the weights. I did it and saved 20lbs at the most. it was more like 15-18. take off your bumpercovers and remove the metal behind them. that will save you 30lbs. go to a light weigt header/exhaust, and save 50. Unfortunately most of these things cost alot of $.
