Default weight savings of full exhaust

im gathering information that a light cat back exhaust can save you about 40lbs and a aftermarket header about 15lbs. so 55-60 total not bad??

Seeing as the entire cat back only weighs 40lbs, I cant see ever saving that amount of weight... what were you planning, side pipe off the header?

I read that the OEM exhaust is about 58lbs, so getting a single exhaust will save a quite a bit of weight. I can't remember how much the OEM cat weighs, don't quote me on this but I think it was about 18lbs when I shipped mine. My test pipe weighs less than 5. I know the OEM header feels like a darn brick, and I don't know how much it weighs but my aftermarket one is like 3 times lighter.

Okay well I was close. Here is a thread with the weights of the stock exhaust, cat, and header, as well as a ton of aftermarket ones.

Why do you need to cut weight?

Less weight is always good.

I'm guessing by going with a lighter exhaust system, as well as losing the tools and spare tire, you can improve handling by lowering the polar moment of inertia.

Any feedback from you auto-x guys?

yeah but you should be careful about not ruining the car's balance by taking more weight off your rears
