S2000 is sensitive to tires: (Post #2): matched brand and model? Correct sizes? Equal air pressures? Equal wear? ... and age.

For maximum enjoyment don't skimp on tires. Best handling tires (Extreme Performance Summer tires) wear quickly though.

This happened to me when I was driving back from Oklahoma on the 20 year old factory tires(another story). I was at a gas station in the middle of nowhere, filled up one side as they were very low and the pump stopped working after filling one side. Just stopped dead and wouldn't start again. I had to drive at least 10 min on the highway and every time I let off the throttle the car would feel like the rear lurched uncomfortably. Once I got it the other side filled it went away completely. That was the moment I realized how sensitive this car was to tire pressure. More so than my M3 for sure.

I have this to be true with most tires but the ones I have on now, Michelin Pilot 4Ss still have decent tread on them at 20K miles. Never had any summer extreme tire come close to this. I am actually going to replace them for age than wear. I look forward to the latest from Michelin.

After getting home safely from driving on 20 year old tires I quickly replaced them with Michelin PS4S. They are fantastic tires!

Its our torsen diff. Especially sensitive to mismatched tire diameters.

Unequal air pressure is enough to cause it

Unequally worn tires is enough

Brand new tires but from different batches or different factories is enough to cause it.

That last one is a great reason to go to Tire Rack. They'll exchange tires of this happens, no explanation necessary. Try explaining that at local tire place.

Fair enough. They're certainly not run flats like on my 4WD.

The Bridgestone Potenza S-02 do have reinforced sidewalls, though, and that's why I didn't even notice one was flat.

Just how OLD are (were) the Bridgestone Potenza S-02, weren't they the OEM tires making them 20+ years old? That'll give ya handling problems.

Bridgestone seems to change tires available frequently. Every time I need new summer tires Bridgestone has discontinued the ones I like! RE-11A? Gone. S-04? Gone!

I have owned my AP1 since April of 2000, and have always replaced the tires with the same Bridgestone Potenza S-02 that were (so I'm told) designed for the S2000. The most recent replacement was 2019. It's entirely possible that a used S2000 has new tires, but there should be a date code on the sidewall that would tell for sure.
