Question weird screw in my wheel....question!

today I found I have a small screw in my front tire!! Its about a half inch long so its not that big pretty small. I was drivign and noticed a small metal noise for awhile now coming from that side of the car. So today I finally check the tire and I see it stuck in firmly. The top head of the screw was totally flat like it had been on there for a very long period. I take it out...

the crazy thing is the air pressure is still at 36psi the last time I filled it a few weeks ago. I'm worrioed now that moving the screw out will cause it to lose air. I checked it after driving again and no air loss....I'm guessing it didnt pentrate.

I'll check tommorow but the tires still have plenty of tread left and I don't want to replace it. So far no air loss but is this normal, or will the tire look deflated after a few days? I did drive it alot today and air pressure and tire looks normal after the drive so maybe it didn't pentrate

also I have s02s on.

if the screw wasn't too long it wouldn't have punctured the tire, just be in the tread. If it isn't leaking it is good to go with just pulling the screw out.

yeh it def wasn't leaking when the screw was in, I was just worried that by pulling it out then there would be leakage if it was punctured.

Hmmm if it was punctured there def should have been some air loss when the screw was in the tire.....I'm guessing its been on for at least 2 weeks. Measured PSI right after I took the screw out and no loss of PSI...its always the lil things which drive me crazy haha. I probably wouldnt have kept the screw in my poor s2k. Imagine if I had to keep a screw in my foot

No necessarily - a screw or nail can keep things plugged until you pull it out. Next time, don't pull it out until you're somewhere that can patch the tire, jik.

otherwise you would have to put it back in to stop the leak and it would be a bummer to get screwed again.

haha woooooooooo I luv s02s! Yeh checked today no air pressure loss, no sagging tires! It was on a tread so I'm guessing it helped the screw not to penetrate. I mean the screw was short maybe like a half inch long to 3/4 inch. Close call!!!!! so2s 4 life!

I would never drive a sports car with a patched tire. Just asking for trouble. Time to order a new tire in my opinion.

If I recall and I am ready to get flamed on this.

If a tire has been patch you can kiss the speed rating good buy. I know my Dad had to order tires for his Viper a few times for picking up a nail or two in the 4 years he had one.

If you want to be sure it isn't leaking, get a spray bottle with a soapy water solution in it. Spray liberally and look for bubbles, if you don't see any, you're good to go. This is how you'd search for a slow leak on a tire if you didn't know where it was damaged.
