Mine is a 01 with 29k miles and I'm getting the same noise . The noise is coming from behind me towards the right side of the car . The only time I hear it is when I'm accelerating hard in 4th or 5th gear right around 7krpm . Please if you guys find out something let me know , because couple of people I asked they were telling me that maybe my diffrential was going out .

My car created that sound on the way home from the dealership.
I am going to give it a few weeks and see.
Yeah it doesn't sound like it's coming from the diff.

Mine too, I have an 02 with the same area noise, I think it is the trunk rods that hold up the trunk crossing each other or the plastic decking under the soft top.
Also when I dont have a passenger I have to put on the seat belt so it doesnt hit the side panel by the door.

I have a similar noise. But mine sounds more like it's creaking. The noise is coming from behind my left ear on the body somewhere. And no, it's not coming from the door panel.

It's really annoying me but I haven't had time to take it in to the dealer.

Mine is actually coming from the soft top as I accelerate. The top vibrates as we all know, but something is making this annoying tapping.

Blue
Jason B found the answer to your problem. On one of his threads, he explained how to resolve that tapping (clicking) sound. I haven't gotten around to resolving mine either but will soon.

Gotta use the search function to find that thread.....

How do I find the thread in the search? What should I type in? Thanks for your help.
