About oil... I checked... it's interesting... didn't burn oil for the first 2 weeks, but in the last 3 days, it burned about 1.5 "x"... weird...

Hmmm ... I just hit 600 today and tried 8000 at different speeds and gears just now B4 getting online. I can feel and hear it big time at about 6500. Man is that fun with the top down!

I'm surprised I can feel VTEC so much after reading your posts, shingles (curious handle). We seem to be at about the same mileage too. Mine now reads 710. Just checked oil level with engine still warm and haven't burned any. I'll check it again cold to be sure later.

Yep -- I may not have driven an F1 car B4, but can't imagine any thing much more exhilarating than 8800 rpm 1,2,3s in my S2K! With only 710 miles on the odo, I'm wondering what it will be like when I get to 1500 miles as all you guys say VTEC only gets stronger.

I don't care what the pundits say, this car is unbelievable! I'm just curious about Shingle's car with similar mileage not pulling strong VTEC power gain ...

I think the speed in the stook is a little deciving at times. I have to go out and try it a few more times with a little more miles on the car and see. Perhaps another reason could be that I am used to/expecting VTEC to act a certain way due to the B16 in my CRX. I mean in the CRX, it's like a very very pronouced cut over in sound and "push". You *hear* and *feel* VTEC in the crx. The other problem could be maybe the B16 has a bigger power differential between VTEC and non VTEC. Who knows... if in another 2-300 miles things aren't happier... I'll visit the dealer.

Yeah, I am a bit disappointed too. The S2K isn't pulling as hard as my VFR

Actually, I was a bit miffed at VTEC when I had 650 miles on it. I was expecting a big difference and didn't see it. I was shocked that it wouldn't chirp from 1st to 2nd (without hanging all over the clutch!)

If you guys are right, man...I am in for a treat. I have 1100 miles now and it is getting better...can't wait for more miles. And I was in disbelief....I checked the oil last night...haven't lost a drop.

shingles,

Yeah...I agree with everyone on this. vtec seemed stronger after 1000 miles. I now have 25000 miles, and if I'm not ready for it...vtec bobbs my head back sometimes.

The vtec "kick" is not always apparent for some reason sometimes...and I'm not worried about it...that's not what is important. The digital Tachometer has the RPM marker increments longer at 6K to 9K than the 1K to 5K markers. As long as the tachometer pulls the same or faster rate through 6K to 9K as compared to 1K to 5K...you are doing fine!!!

Also the S2000 doesn't feel as fast as say...the integra because there is more RPM's and more constant acceleration.

You will feel change in acceleration, but not constant acceleration.

I think there is a substantial variation in the power output of f20c's, and in individual engines over time. I picked up my S2000 in April 2000. Couldn't wait for 600 miles. Results were definitely disappointing.

Changed my oil at about 3500 to Mobil 1. Performance took a noticeable hit. At 4000 miles, I pronounced my black beauty a "slug." Hand held digital stop watch timed runs to 60 with agressive off idle launches netted me times in the low 7's. Was seriously bummed. I changed back to dyno oil (Castrol GTX) and noted some improvement.

At about 8,000 miles, I had the the clutch/trannie/seatbelt fix done. I don't know what Weseloh Honda did (they claim they did nothing) but suddenly my car is a rocket. Partial throttle at +6K revs gives me a lovely VTEC rush. Full throttle VTEC transition is notable for its hilarious ferocity.

Weseloh did disconnect the battery while working on the car. I think the ECU "reset" or something. Weseloh says our ECUs don't reset. Something good happened to mine. Good luck with yours!!

Oh well, if it doesn't get faster that's ok... I honestly didn't buy the s2000 for the speed... I bought it cause it was yellow, convertable, and most importantly, a Honda.

2x6spds,

Because of the delayed MPH display...you can't use a stopwatch to time your 0-60. I tried it with a stopwatch...and I got close to 8 seconds. What does that mean...nothing. I ran a nose to nose drag race with a new Z28 and a 1999 M3 (multiple runs)...and I am damn sure they aren't running 0-60 in 7 seconds.

We need to invest in a gtech.
