Default Went to buy syncromesh...

So I went into the Chevy dealer today with the part number for Syncomesh (12345349). They came back saying this other fluid supersedes it, and that I really want part number 1052931. I looked at the bottle and it doesn't say syncromesh anywhere on the bottle... just "Manual Transmission Fluid". They still charged me for part number 12345349.

Was I swindled, or is this a legit deal?

I've found only one GM dealer that has the proper stuff. Others, (large dealers) have found the syncro friction modified in their parts books, but they've never carried it. They all have the regular fluid. Not the same and supercedes nothing at all.

Just get that stuff from HardTopGuy, where i did...
GM dealers usually don't have a frikkin' clue about that stuff...
It's all the same to them it seems, b/c I tried to get some once from the dealership and was totally wrong... on a sat. none the less...

I tried GMSMFM and loved it for the first 2,000 miles. Performance degraded quickly after that and I went back to standard Honda stuff.

I order a lot from them. They're cheap, but the shipping and handling can be quite expensive and they allow virtually no returns. Make sure you have the right part # before ordering. Even with the high shipping and handling, they're usually still much cheaper than the local dealer.
