Default went to dealer about hard top

im 18 years old.....

me having my s2000 is a product of my parents credit and me workin...

and the picture in my sig.

yeah thats me.

soooooo.....when people see me walk out of a store and hop into my s2k its a lil bit of a shocker to some.

anyways...today i go to the honda dealership and walk in go to the receptionist and ask about s2000 hardtops....she looks at me with eyes wide chuckles and directs me to parts....i walk over to the specialists in the parts shop in the dealership and ask how much it costs to get a hardtop iget "sonnnn its really expensive...."

i say ok and ask again for a qoute on the price....

he looks at me rolls his eyes tells me how its been 3 years since someone in thias area had a hardtop purchased from this dealership.

he finnaly gets his lazy ass up and gets another man to come up to me and let me know they cost 3200 with installation....which is nutso, so i agreed with the first man on it being expensive and left.

if only these tops came with the s2000 standard.....o well

Go to Ebay. You can find hardtops for $2500.

Hey don't feel bad. It's age discrimination. But feel good that you can afford it and laugh in their face.

I suspect that the responses that you get from others have more to do with your demeanor and approach than your chronological age. Presenting yourself in a mature manner that is respectiful of others, including their time, will do more to determine how you are perceived and treated than your age or capacity to pay. People are less concerned about your show than you think and it will always perceived as disrespectiful to treat others like you can buy them, whether the money comes from you or your parents.

Sorry to hear about the age discrimination with this experience. When you are on the receiving end of stereotyping you have some choices. You can rise above it as mad-dog-one has described and carry yourself in a respectful manner by GIVING respect to yourself and others. If you don't understand this, take some time to think about it.

The worst thing you can do is being disrespectful back or play into someone else's misjudgement of you. Two people in a row, chuckling, rolling their eyes and condescending to you must have been unpleasant. I wasn't there. I don't know what happened. All I can tell is how you are chosing to express yourself and if your intentional poor grammer above reflects how you carried yourself into the dealership, you asked to be mistreated by people with an inclination towards age discrimination. If you were respectful and polite and acting like an adult you would probably be treated like an adult except by very unprofessional people.

Don't worry about the discrimination...its just the way it is....but you have the S2000 and they don't.

I'm pretty young considering my Audi ownership...it just happens that it depreciates badly and I bought it used. Its not beyond any young professional affording this car. I modded my Audi a lot and I have an exhaust on it and it cracks me up when people see me get in my 70K car and fire up the engine and it sounds like a V8 muscle car. Its especially funny when "rich" people see me near upscale areas and stare as I rumble away with my "My other ride is your mom" bumper sticker. Its fun to bastardize a luxury car!!!!

This is what people should be doing in luxury cars...Click >Snow Fun

well I use poor grammar while on a forum as form of expression and personality.

I mean if I was taking an exam that would be different.

I didnt walk into the dealership with no shoes on, grabbing my crotch and picking my nose. I walked in dressed casually but very acceptable, and asked for a quote on a hardtop.

Either way, the situation wasnt a big deal. I just think 3200 is pricey!!!
