Went to the drag strip yesterday
The s2k is deffinatley not an 1/8th mile car. I couldn't run better than a 9.5. What so you guys usually launch at? I tried 7rpms and feather the clutch but it usually falls on its face and just gets buck wild. Anyone had better luck?
The ride home was fun though... hung out two vets. I luv my car!

Please tell me you are not just now figuring out that the S is NOT a drag race car.
As I've stated before, it makes me puke every time someone goes "the s2k is not a drag car". why? because some of us like to go to the drag strip to see what it can do. look how many people have gears, superchargers, turbos, and other such mods that make the car go even faster in a straight line, yet never run it at auto-x or road course. the fact that the car can run 13's stock is an ADDITION to it's appeal since it handles so great. so people, get off the soap box, and quit b*tching about how the S2000 isn't a drag car, because like it or not, some of us like to run the 1/4 mile every once in a while, and the car happens to be pretty good at doing it too. no other n/a 4 cylinder can even come close to breaking 13's stock.
as for your 9.5 it's probably going to take some practice. I don't know what the traction is like at your track, but I launched between 4000-6000 rpms depending on conditions. raise your front tire psi to about 32, and lower the back tires to about 24. the key is to get a nominal amount of wheelspin which then you control by feathering the gas if it's too much.

According to Motor Trend and Car and Driver, the S can't do 13's either, so....
From Motor Tread: Honda S2000- 1/4 mile, sec @ mph 14.19 @ 99.90
Mitsubishi Evo- 1/4 mile, sec @ mph 13.2 @ 99.8 (2004 model)
Dodge Neon SRT4- 1/4 mile, sec @ mph 13.9 @ 101.9
From Car and Driver: 2000 Honda S2000 14.2
2003 Honda S2000 14.9
Lotus Elise- 1/4 mile, sec @ mph 13.2 @ 104
Discussing the TT being slower then the S: "S2000, the next-slowest
sprinter and a car particularly unsuited to drag racing." Hey, I will
admit I am no expert, however, I guess I am not the only one to think
so.
