hey can someone lock this thread. I just posted it up one night cause i was bored. Who thaught everyone was going to get all upset about this. I wasn't mad about any of it, I have my own opinions about cars and i don't care what someone thinks of my car but i just typed things that i was reading and now everyone hates Lancer evo's. Sorry everybody maybe i'll start a cool thread next time.

And before anyone replies to hyperpm with the typical "if you need a car to get you dates..." response, y'all can't deny that its a positive feature to have. I'm sure most, if not all of the male owners on this board have had nice girls paying attention to the car (and then owner), and it put a smile on your face.

Its not so much we NEED this car to get us dates, rather its just a positive reaction from the fairer sex, which is an enjoyable experience in any form

In any case, I agree that both are great cars that perform very well and serve their purposes. I would never buy an EVO personally, because I prefer a more 'sleek, sporty' look in a car which the EVO and other rally designed cars just don't have. Both cars are totally different, in function and form...and we, as car enthusiasts are all the better for their existence.

Muhahahah! This is an idiotic thread, but i guess i will contribute since I am trying to win a battle over insomnia. 90% of posters in this thread really have a skewed view on the evo being that they probably never logged more than 15min (in a test drive) in one. i've owned 2 s2000's and currently own an evo. I've logged over 100K in the s2000's combined and have currently 60K on the evo. So here is my take:

Looks
S2000=Very, very sexy lines, has a timeless design that turns heads. This is a car that tells everyone that "I have ARRIVED" Nothing, I mean NOTHING beats an s2K with a front lip spoiler, side strakes, rims, J's racing carbon fiber hood, slightly lowered, and a tasteful spoiler.
Evo=Very, very muscular look. almost like looking at a japanese version of america's 1960's muscle car, it's a design that turns heads (but not too sure if the reason is a good one) Some call it muscular, some call it ugly, you say tomatoe, I say tom-at-toe.

Acceleration
S2000=WILL walk a STOCK evo at highway speeds
Evo=This thing LOVES mods......an $80 manual boost controller will def turn the tables. DOLLAR for DOLLAR in aftermarket strait-line performance mods, the EVO rocks the s2000, even those s2k's with forced induction (you will be suprised how quick an evo can be made for little $)

Handling
S2000=This car handles extremely well. However, going into corners, I was ALWAYS worried about the rear stepping out. Once the rear end goes......IT GOES!
Evo=This car will make the everyday driver feel like an F1 racer! It just grips and grips in turns. I have never felt uncomfortable takling a turn. It does tend to understeer a bit....and in my opinion thats a good thing for 90% of the people out there. I took my brother out (who ownes a berlina black s2000) in my evo and we did some carving........let's just say he was flabbergasted.

Breaking
S2000=very good
Evo=The brembo's are the best, bar none. this car has one of the shortest stopping distances in the industry.

Tranny
S2000=Has the BEST shifter in the world PERIOD! Rowing through the gears is an experience only s2k owners can relate to....can not be described in words.
Evo=Pretty good, but nothing compared to the s2k.

Interior
S2000=Simple, elegant, best steering wheel in the world, Love the rainbow 9k redline, and the guages. The seats are incredible.
Evo=Feels like you are sitting in a civic. WTF........you have to TWIST a KNOB to get the seat to recline ...... did I say WTF!!!!!! Having said that, the evo seats are even better than the s2000's....they are more comfortable on long trips (although this has more to do with the distance of the seat from the floor), and hold you in better.

Utility
S2000=It's a convertable, not a minivan:P
Evo=Big trunk and rear seats (even though they DONT fold down).

Ride Comfort
S2000=harsh ride, will feel every crack and crevice in the road. Lots of road noise. Ears start to hurt after a while...with the top up or down. And you can NOT pull over, recline the chair and take a comfortable nap.
Evo= only MARGINALY better, harsh ride, you will feel every crack and crevice in the road. The rear seats are not very comfortable. WTF no cruise control?!?!?!?!!? Did I say WTF!!?!??!!

Fun Factor
S2000=Top down on warm summer nights, music blasting, hot girlfriend in the passenger seat, and carving turns........nuff said!
Evo=Can you say torque and corners like it's on rails?!?!!

reliablity
s2000=Honda reliability? Hmm....I dont think so......broken rear diffs, clicking axles, gear grinds, and leaking tops......BUT i feel that s2k's are MORE reliable that evo's.
Evo=Breaking transfer cases, gear grinds, and warped rotors. Dealers are looking for a reason to void out the warrentees on these cars.

1/4
no contest here.....evo wins (not to say that there arent fast s2000's out there...it's just that it's much easier and cheaper to get the evo to do well in this department than the s2000)

Track
Around a track I'd say that 90% of drivers out there will be faster in the evo than the s2000....even stock.....the evo is pretty much idiot proof.

Daily Driver
if I had to own 1 car year round, it would be the evo (My s2000 had bizzaks LM-22's in the winter).......in rain and snow, there is no replacement for AWD (of course you need the correct type of tire)

Weekend car
if I could have a weekend car, it would be the s2000...nothing beats a convertible.

Conclusion: different strokes for different folkes.

who cares what the lancer evo's think...i think both s2000's and evo's are nice...but for stock wise the evo 7 and 8's don't compare to the older evo3-5's..they just look so much nicer...and s2000's look way nicer than evo8's i think

I shortened your post a little bit in this quote just to save thread space, but this is the only post that I see any value in within this thread

Thank You Hwang

In today's day and age someone owning a $30,000 automobile should be able to afford at least a DSL connection - unless there is nothing available becuase you live in a remote area.

Signature (and smiley) viewing can be cut off
