Wet accident. Tail happy.
Hate to drag things out but when you were on the bridge and the back end "skipped" and was bouncing, was the pavement different from the land road and especially did you hit any metal grates for the roadbed? (drawbridge?)I know those things can give you fits; I discovered that myself even when driving very conservatively.
For future notice once the back end starts swaying the last thing you want to do is lift off the throttle or hit the brakes, its most likely what induced the spin. A slight addition of power will get the rear planted and help the toe, especially in an AP1. Overall doesn't look too bad for hitting something at 55 honestly, good to hear its fixable. I bet probably a third of that cost is for the quarter panel work
Wow!!
In what country is an '01 with 56k bringing $23k?
I think it's great if it does!

USA... My 01 that I picked up yesterday with 55k books for 24,xxx. Research... AP1's are pulling away from AP2's in BB value.

there's dozens of posts on here discussing the unrealistic values Kelly Blue Book has on our cars.
NADA is showing an 01 with 56k miles for $12,000 ($9650 for the car plus $2350 for the low miles for the year)
Edmunds, on the other hand, has our cars listed on the low side--it shows an 01 with 56K worth $9580.
on ebay motors, there have been 7 01s listed in the past 90 days, looking at the 'completed" listing which shows how the bidding went, only 2 of them drew any bids at all---they were an 01 with 47k miles that was bid to $10,800 and 01 with 37k miles that was bid to $11,100. This shows what actual buyers are willing to pay for those cars
the best research is looking at multiple sources---not just KBB
to the OP--sorry about hijacking your thread! didn't mean to!
good luck with the repairs----the price seems very reasonable.
and switching it out for a different daily driver sounds like a good idea---then you can get another S2k in the future as a 'second" car and not have to worry about driving it thru the winter. (though some folks daily drive them thru Canadian winters---X Viper is one--think he's been driving one up there year round for about 10 years)
