Default What are the benefits of a hardtop?

Hey guys, I'm purchasing a hardtop through the groupbuy forum, and was just wondering, what the advantages are....I have an '01, so atleast it will replace the plastic window...it will also cut down on blindspots (compared to ragtop), but I aslo understand that it doesn't really cutdown on any noise....Does it squeak and make even more road, wind noise than the ragtop? Thanks.

I have noticed a signifigant reduction in noise with the hardtop, increased rear visibility and a more solid "feel" when it's on, it also adds a bit of security since no one can easilly cut through the top and take your seats. If you want to reduce the noise even more with the hardtop, dynamat it, just watch the weight increase.

Well, for me the HT will be a great advantage in the winter months. Expecially if your car is a daily driver, the weather can get to it after a while. Besides, it gives the car that extra custom look

BTW, this also helps if you have to worry about cats clawing your roof. I have heard of people that this has happened to and it can help safeguard from that.

One thing I also noticed when I put my hardtop on, it just didn't look right without the front OEM lip and rear OEM spoiler. The hardtop added a nice look to the car for rainy days/crappy months but threw off the lines a bit without them.

I got the HT to save my soft during winter months, and it looks great on the car. Plus, it gives the car a whole new look. One of the best purchases I've made. Jeff aka hardtopguy, sells them for the price around.

I think the greatest advantage would be from a security stand point. Other advantages would be better for winter, maybe quieter and a larger back window.

I was going to buy the hardtop but changed my mind when I realized that I'd seldom use it. Having it in place, even if only for the winter months, makes it much more difficult to take down the top and enjoy the cold, crisp but sunny days of January and February.
