You do hear the noises of your own car more. I noticed that I can now hear my latches on the soft top rattle when I hit big bumps, which I never heard with the top down due to wind and road noise. Also when I make the car undergo torsion, such as driving over a speed bump at an angle, I can hear the seals squeak a little. Other than that the hard top really does cut alot of noise down, including the exhaust sounds you usually hear behind you. xviper is right in that you hear the engine, gearing and underbody noises more distinctly now.

I have a hardtop and I have to say that I wasn't impressed by the reduction of wind noises. Perhaps my hardtop just isn't sitting properly. My local Honda Dealer tried their best adjusting the latches...

Anyway, the biggest wind noise from my hardtop is from that lower corner of the window where the HT and the car meet. The gap there at higher freeway speeds can cause a pretty annoying noise... and pretty much overshadow whatever other wind noise advantage compared to the soft top. Further, I don't particularly like the squeaking noises from the latches as I do over bumps or driveways. When I losen the latches, the car does drive quieter though!

Well, regardless of its less than "expected" performance, I'm still glad that I got it. I love the looks of it and it just makes washing the car helluva lot easier. Hardtop is also a great "protectant" for the soft top.

BTW, does anyone know how much does it cost to replace the soft top? If the soft top is a lot cheaper then I guess it doesn't really make sense to buy something more expensive to protect somether cheap...

replacing the soft top is about 1K without labor.

Sounds like you got a rough deal with your hardtop, I've never had any of the things you described happen.

Mine is also a little on the loud side in that lower corner where the HT meets the car, but never enough so that I find it annoying. Mine has a very slight gap in that corner also where it looks like the rubber seals are supposed to meet up, but I can't seem to adjust it any lower. It doesn't leak and doesn't annoy me, so I've just left it alone.

Billi, Honda has a fix for that "wind leak" noise. Ask them to take a look at their memos or TSB's. They replace that little rubber seal with a bigger, different one. As for the latches, I wonder if they even put in the heavy duty striker plates. These allow the latches to pull the top in harder.
