I want to paint my brake calipers red and dont know what paint to get. Should I get spray or something you brush on? Anyone know what works the best? What is the best brand to get? I need some bling to go with my new rims!!!
I used a kit called a G2 or something like that, it was a brush on and it turned out nice, I have even done a few track days with the paint showing no ill effects - still looks good!
G2 is the best out there. Dont use a spray...it may drift on to the paint of your car and you definately dont want that. I have used it on 3 vehicles so fat with no regrets. Color lasts and stays glossy. If you do a search you will see many others recommend it as well. You can find it on the net for about 40 bucks.
The key to good lookin calipers is the prep BEFORE the paint. Smooth out the casting marks and prime them before the paint. I used High temp engine enamel 1200 degree F. two coats of primer, two coats of color , two coats of clear. 2 hours of prep per caliper.
2 hours of prep?!! No way.... Get G2 paint system. It comes with brake cleaner which takes off all the grime, a tiny brush, paint which is heat resistant to 1000 degrees and a reactor mix which hardens the paint. You have 4 hours to use the paint from the time u mix everything to get the job done. Of course make sure the calipers are clean. You can re-apply another coat after 20 mins. I do 3 coats per caliper. PM me if you want and I will take some pictures of my girls car. We painted the calipers on her RSX red this past weekend.

Take the time to properly prep the caliper. Smoothing out the casting with a dremel or die grinder will make a HUGE difference in the quality of the final product. The extra 2-3 hours of work will pay off everytime you walk by your car for years to come, and the compliments will be endless!

MY car is Suzuka Blue so there is really no color that goes real well on my brake calipers without looking ricey. I chose silver just to make the calipers look clean. I simply sprayed each caliper with with cleaning solution provided and went to work. No sanding..no 2 hours of prep work per caliper. I think they came out quite well and are holding up nicely.
