Default What is the best year and options?

I am considering purchasing a used S2000 to replace my modified Eclipse GST Spyder. I do occassional drag racing and other types of hard driving activities. I have heard that the clutch was a problem on this model. Has that been rectified? I guess my question is, what is the best year and options I should be looking for in a used S2000? Where are it's weak points? What should I be on the lookout for?
Any suggestions or comments will help.
Thanks

the only thing I can think of is a glass rear window in MY02+ vs plastic window.

different colors and a shift knob too

well... off hand, the oil jet bolts(is that the correct name) shifter/tranny revision, clutch are all changed on the 2002+(be careful, since it was midyear on the 02's that they changed I believe) also the interior received a few mods, vinyl center console, tweeters in the doors, and a new head unit for the stereo with a clock...

suspension was also changed, but not sure what the changes were...

Does anyone know what serial number or build date the upgrades took effect in 2002?

Frankly if you are looking for a drag car, you would likely be better looking at something else. There are tons of posts from people dissapointed that they get the car, and in order to go appreciably faster in the 1/4 they have to dump a TON of cash.

Honda did fix quite a bit by mid-year 2002, of course that's not going to help you much in the used market.

Do a search for "oil jet bolts" and follow it until you find reference to vin #'s. Getting an 02 with the right vin #'s and low mileage will save you money and you'll get the model with all the upgrades that an 03 would have. Good luck!
