what color is the shinitsu grease?
I have noticed twice now that on my driver's seat there's been a 'glob' of black goo. Looks like tar almost, but has more of a 'foamy' appearance. In the first case, the top was up, I lowered it, got in, and had this nasty blob on my shorts that I never figured out where it came from until later. Second time, the top had been down, raised it, got out, and came back 30 minutes - 1 hour later, and there's this blob of goo on the driver's seat. It looked like it could have come from the seals in the top?? Both times, the temp was warm, in the 80s.
Totally clueless, and any help appreciated.

Out of the tube, the shin-etsu grease is white. But after you smear some against the rubber seals, the grease will become black and grey because of the the dirt that its mixing against. I wouldn't doubt that the goop that were on your seats were from the shin-etsue grease. Hope that helps.

the windshield hasn't been replaced, far as I know - the dealership would have had to do that in the 5 miles they drove her.
Possible, I suppose.
Upon some further inspection, the 'goop' for lack of a better term, seems to match a similar substance found between the main hinge on the top.
If I get it figured out, I"ll post up in case someone else runs into the same issue - and really, it's only an issue when you sit on it and it smears on your pants. I *still* haven't been able to wash the stain out and that's been probably a month....
