What did I fry?
So I had my laptop hooked up to my cigarette lighter through a DC step up adapter. I had used it in my explorer with no problem, and it says its 8A, so i thought everything would be ok. Well, I'm using it in th s2k, and all of the sudden, the radio shut off and the power plug doesn't work. figured it must be a fuse, but i stoped at a dealership and they couldn't find any blown. Also, oddly, my laptop doesn't turn on anymore.
I'm perplexed - I pulled the fuses again - they all looked good - replaced the one on the inside of the car. STill no dice. I wonder if there is a random inline fuse somewhere.
I hope the dealer can lookup my radio code - because I don't know if I can find it :-)
Thankfully, the Best Buy warranty will cover the laptop.

did you check all the fuses, not only the one in the cabin but also the ones in the engine bay.
I remember Andrew was setting up his one touch convtertible top switch, he fried something and it ended up being one of the fuses in the engine bay. There was no direct link b/t that fuse and the convertible top, but once he replaced the fuse it worked.
Recheck all the fuses to make sure. It wouldn't hurt.

the fuse is NOT the one marked radio.
i plugged a shorted accesory into the power outlet, blew the fuse, and the radio stopped working. the fuse marked 'radio" was fine, it was another fuse.
10 amp i think.

It's probably fuse #9 (10A) inside the car. It feeds both the radio and the acc socket. Or the accessory power socket relay might have gone bad.
The radio is fed by fuses #9 & #22, inside the car.
The complete circuit:
BAT feeds Fuse 41, which feeds fuses 42 and 54 (among others)
42 in turn feeds thru the ign sw to fuse 9 then to the acc socket and radio pin 2, via the acc socket relay contacts.
Fuse 54 feeds 22 then to radio pin 10.

22=15A

42=40A
54=30A
Relay is normally de-energized, with normally closed contacts. Pressing the engine start switch with clutch pressed energizes the relay, killing power to radio and acc socket.
