I don't know what the GT3 is but is it a convertible ? yes, ok think about it, no? forget it stay with the S.

When I was looking to buy it ended up being between the S and a Boxter spider, I chose the S and love it. Got rid of the Elise for the S and never looked back, i am a true convertible guy and the Elise is just a coupe that that part of the top comes on on, like 911 Targa's. I assume being a 911 that the GT3 is not a convertible and would skip it.

READ the OP's message. The money is either a down payment on the porsche, or mods to the s2000. He doesnt have the full payment to the porsche handy. Geeze I wish I did though.

Save, save, save. What good is saving? You just keep saving, but what does it do for you? Saving is actually hurting the economy. If rich people all followed what the news said (save! We are in a financial crisis!) I dont think they would be rich anymore.

I would say mod the S2000 to your exact liking, make it your own completely. You wont have payments every week (or month) and so you will be able to put money towards a financial asset faster.

[QUOTE=Saki GT,Jul 26 2010, 12:31 PM]I'm not sure I get this - you want to buy a GT3 based on the sound?

If you want a better option why don't you get a Boxster S and an aftermarket exhaust?

I do appreciate all the advice about saving and economy. I already have rental property, a great job, and a decent savings account. I have a separate account for the purchase of my new house so I really don't see the value in me not getting what I want.

My problem is that I just want something that is better than what I already have. I am not rich by any measure, but I am in a position to get what I want and still have financial stability.

I posed the question for opinions about the money I would use on the cars, I already have a savings plan mapped for my future. I also am will not be selling my S, the GT3 would become my weekend car. The money used for a down payment on the GT3 would have been used to totally upgrade my S to the spec I wanted. I was just curious to see If anyone thought it was a good idea to upgrade the S vs. buying a GT3. Many have upgraded their cars but I have heard from some that wish they would have bought something else and keep there S closer to stock.

I'm not sure about this one.

GT3s do not hold their value well. You'd spend $90k, and 3 years later, it'll be $55k.

There are also a wide range of awesome cars in between s2000 and GT3.

Personally, I'd go halfway, and get a Lotus Exige.

Owning/financing a Porsche while renting your roof is a laughable decision at best.
So a person cannot rent a furnished luxury apartment and finance a Porsche because they are easily able to swing both payments?

Just taking notes here....
