Its just funny to read some of the comments. It has more cupholders etc. Its cool though one of them even admits the s2k is faster.

S2k > Z4
Boyz and their toyz. Everyone is proud of the one they bought... as they should be. I wonder what the Ferarri boards are saying about us?

A co-worker bought a Z4. It's a pretty car to be sure. But.... what's the point of getting a sports car short on the "sports" bit? The 2.5i offers a mere 184 HP at roughly the same price of an S2000. BMW's web site doesn't list weight but I can't believe it's as light as an S2000. Then there's the 3.0i that bumps up the HP to 225. Bumps up the price quite a bit, too, to over $40k. And add options like a 6-speed transmission at $1,500 to drive it well into the $40ks quicker than an S2000 leaves a Z4 in its rear view mirror.

The Beemer owners start preach'n money doesn't matter. Oh really? Well, at the Z4's price we're creaping into 'Vette territory. Suddenly, all their arguments about picking the Z4 for its torque look perfectly silly.

I do feel sorry for those Z4 owners who gripe the S2000 doesn't fit 'em. My S2000 literally fits me like a glove. They can blame their genes they're stuck in a Z4.

First, it's BIMMER, not BEEMER.

Z4 is about a hundred lbs more than the S2k. BMW tends to under-rate the horsepower, too. The 184/225 HP realistically should be more than advertised.

And add options like a 6-speed transmission at $1,500 to drive it well into the $40ks quicker than an S2000 leaves a Z4 in its rear view mirror
The 6-speed manual transmission isn't an option; it comes standard on the 3.0. As far as an S2k leaving a Z4 in its rear view mirror, pretty much all car magaines reported the Z4 being faster than the S2k, albeit no more than 0.1, 0.2 seconds.

The Beemer owners start preach'n money doesn't matter. Oh really? Well, at the Z4's price we're creaping into 'Vette territory.
You've gotta be kidding right? As if the Corvettes cost as much as a Z4 or were cheaper than a Z4, we'd have chosen the Vette instead? And really, what's the point of bringing money into the subject when it comes to comparing sports cars? I'm sure somewhere on the Dodge Neon board there's an 18 year old kid laughing his ass off that someone would spend $27k on an S2000 that's just as fast as his crapmobile.

What do Z4 owners think of the S2K??

I'll tell you what they think...I had a couple stare longingly at mine while they were at a stop light and I was making a turn.

Z4 owners say.. "Now why the hell did we get this when we could have gotten that!?!?"

I think the Z4 is a bit overpriced, but it is a BMW. I had the fortunate nature of spending 7 weeks last fall down in the Upstate area (greenvilel/Spartunburg SC) where the Z4 is made. It's hilarious because you see more Z4's than you ever will anywhere else. People must get some good deal who work at the plant in Greer. I wonder if it is like that in the town where the S2000 is made. Althouh I have never driven a Z4 I think that it wouldn't handle as well as the S.

Quote from a biased s2k owner.............. Me,

A good buddy of mine has a Z4 3.0 with the sports suspension. He has had it about 7-8 months. I have had my MY04 for about 3 months. At first I did not like the design (outside). It did grow on me though. A couple months after he got his car he had knee surgery. He couldn't drive of course, so I got to keep his car for a few days. My impressions are...

The interior is full of creature comforts, very comfortable. I enjoyed the driving experience. The engine is very strong. It pulls hard from the very start. You just tap the gas pedal and the car jumps, and does not die as you get high into the rev range. The sport suspension is nice, although I don't think it handles as well as the S2k. It has a "sport" button that seems to give the car even more torque.

That is my short take on the Z4. It is a fun car to drive. I do think it's a little over priced. After all it's a BMW and you have to pay play. I do have to say that does pull harder than my car. Well the last time I drove it was before I had my car so I can't say that I have had the chance to do a back to back test.

That is my 2 cents.
