The average car or a sports car? Dont fool yourself. Most lightly modded cars will hand you your ass. Cars are fast these days. I dont street race anymore but i did for many years. Maybe it's because i live in FL where cars are fast but i'm talking about cars you can buy off the showroom floor. My car can bearly beat 4 door cars. Come on what are you racing mini vans?
FWIW, I will say that to me, a stock S2000 seems really slow. I've gotten use to a car that makes the same amount of torque at 4,500 RPM that the stock car makes at the base of VTEC, with the torque still taking a big jump up at 6k, and increasing, rather than decreasing, from there to redline. Full on acceleration in a stock car actually does feel pig slow in comparison.
However, I've had too much experience with fast vehicles in the past to let myself get jaded anymore. It's one of those things most car guys eventually outgrow. The stock S2000 runs high 13's, and is not slow compared to most other cars on the road today.

I'm not defending anyone here but if the guy was talking about "most cars" being most cars that people take to the dragstrip then he may be correct.
The s2k is beautiful for what it is but it is not a drag car. There isn't one known that has broken into the 9 second range yet, and I have friends with mustangs in Michigan doing that "all motor".
Just hit the road course and find out if they can hang with us. Thats where car+experience wins.

LOL, so you think it's just a communications breakdown?
Could be. Big difference between the "average car" and the "average drag car." BUT WAIT, what was the topic of this thread? Oh yea, it was STOCK S2000 times. Hmmmm.
Wouldn't you think a man was a fool if he said that "most cars" can pull at least a G in the corners? Even if he later tried to backpedal and say that he was talking about "most autocross cars with R compound tires," wouldn't you still think the initial statement was stupid?

I am trying to find the word "stock" in that quoted phrase posted above. Please help me with that.

Being jaded distorts one's view of reality, and I believe that's what we're seeing here. That, combined with a little arrogance.

4 door cars like a Lexus GS400, mercedes, neons, Should i go on forever are faster. Sure the S2000 is faster then alot of cars. Point is low 14's high 13's is far from fast. I love my S2000 and it's one of the most fun cars on the road but the 1/4 is not where it shines
srt4 is garbage american car, any manufacture can make a fast car, all they have to do is slap a turbo and bam you have a fast car. Mercedez are fast cars they have e55 amg that whoopes even the (monster) 06 z06 so dont even mantion mercedez and the gs400 is a v8 and its always been a fast car so take your head out of your a*s cause i can name alooooot of cars that can beat s2k's but i can also name more cars that the s2k's can whoope up. Be realistic guy!!
