What is double clutch
When I am accelerating or shifting from gear to gear in a competitive spirit I just pull my foot back from the clutch and put pressure on the gas when I get to the friction point. I feel as if I am loosing time and speed as I do this. Some times the car almost jerks forward (not violently) when I change gears. I see some people talk about double clutch and dropping the clutch when racing. What is it and is it bad for our cars?
Double clutching is when your not granny shifting.
The jerk motion is when your clutch is engaging. Learn to shift faster. Dropping the clutch just means revving it up and letting out the clutch as fast as possible.

From what I understand, double clutching is just what it sounds like - you press the clutch pedal in once to pull the car out of gear, then match revs for the new gear you want, then press the clutch pedal again to engage the drivetrain/engine again. You don't really need to double clutch anymore unless you have a clutch assembly with no synchros, and if you can heel&toe, you don't really need to double clutch either.
Double clutching on sports cars is quite possibly the most retarded thing I've ever heard of. Slow, and I find most of the time more jerky and unsmooth -- At least the people that I've seen do it.
All ya need is heel-toe.

It's not completely retarded. If done correctly you can still save wear on your synchros. That being said, I don't bother to double-clutch. It's not worth the added effort on a car such as the S2000.
