So if you double clutch when upshifting, do you still blip the throttle? There's really no reason to right? Since the idea is to slow the transmission main shaft down.
Jack,

Whether I'm upshifting or downshifting, I try to match engine revs while in neutral before shifting into the target gear. In an upshift, this means backing off on the throttle (though not completely). There's no blip involved in the upshift; it's more a question of letting the revs slow down a bit... i.e., letting the engine reach matching revs before clutching again and selecting the next gear.

Hope that helps.

dang i guess in this modern age of synchros many people don't know what double clutching is
for S2000's, double clutching = how you should do the 1-2 shift when the car's cold.

Addendum:

For MY 00-03 S2000's, double clutching = WHAT you MUST do on 3-2 or 2-1 DOWNshift when the car's cold OR WARM, or face the consequences of accelerated synchro wear AND grinding the gear.

When I am accelerating or shifting from gear to gear in a competitive spirit I just pull my foot back from the clutch and put pressure on the gas when I get to the friction point. I feel as if I am loosing time and speed as I do this. Some times the car almost jerks forward (not violently) when I change gears. I see some people talk about double clutch and dropping the clutch when racing. What is it and is it bad for our cars?
DOUBLE CLUTCHING IS NOTHING YOU SHOULD BE CONCERNED ABOUT WITH YOUR S2K. IT IS FOR OLDER CARS W/OUT SYNCROS. LEAVE IT AT THAT... sorry for captions

It only makes sense to double clutch on the 2-1 downshift if you are still moving. 2-3 makes a little sense too... but for the rest of the time, just normal going through the gears in order, and giving the syncros a extra split second to do their magic is really all you need.

double clutching with synchros is a waste of time IMHO. matching revs on downshifts is cool. on upshifts i only let off the throttle about 50% and barely press in the clutch. i'm still working on the timing but the times i've got it right it made for lightning fast shift with minimal RPM loss. i can't do the clutchless upshifts thing....

Double clutching is when your not granny shifting.

The jerk motion is when your clutch is engaging. Learn to shift faster. Dropping the clutch just means revving it up and letting out the clutch as fast as possible.
what is this guy talking about lol seriously.....thats not double clutching lol
