Default What is the downside to using Spacers?

What is the downside to using Spacers? Many wheels require them to accomodate big brake kits.

Any info?

1) The wheels might stick out too far and rub against the fenders.
2) The spacers might be too thick for the lug nuts to properly seat on the lug bolts.
3) Add weight.
