i personally prefer the throttle cable because there's no intermediate between you and the throttle body

is it any better than a cable setup?? why switch?
DBW is necessary to implement stability and traction control. The computer needs to control throttle and thats kind of difficult if its controlled with a cable directly attacked to the pedal.

you cant have traction control without dbw system.
Of course you can. It allows for the implementation of VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist) aka Electronic Stability Control. Traction control can be implemented on any car with ABS.

Not true!! Traction control (and VSA) can be implemented without DBW. It is cheaper to do it with DBW because no additional hardware will be required to cut back throttle when TCS or VSA kicks in. DBW can also replace cruise control hardware.

The evil in DBW is a slight delay in response (Yes its there on the S2000), Rev hang, a non-linear response, and a component failure which could leave you stranded.

NSX DBW is pretty good, yet owners could still feel the delay and the rev hang. Some S2000 owners can feel the delay. It all depends how keen you are on picking up the the subtle differences in response.

The only delay I get sometimes, not all the time, is from 1-2 shift. I contributed this to the cdv and was planning on taking it out, but maybe it's the dbw.
Sometimes I will hit the gas hard, not floored but hard and it will not take off right away or it will engage slowly and then go.

dbw and traction control sucks, period.

dbw is just pain in the ass overall. unless it's a ferrari or GT3 or something, you should just leave the cable throttle in the car in any sports car.

because DBW effects tuning as well as having a standalone system in your car.

i dont know how it is in the new S2000s, but in my 06 Si, it can get pretty annoying when the DBW computer does what it "thinks" you want to do. for example, when you're feathering the throttle, it'll do it like 4 times then it just won't respond to your feathering anymore. pretty annoying at times. when there's a throttle cable like in earlier S2000s, the throttle body is doing exactly what your accelerator foot is telling it to do.
If you have an '06 SI, go to the dealer and have it reprogrammed. I have an '07 and I dont have the issue.

There was a TSB for it

So DBW sucks, but a Ferrari or 911 GT3 can have it?

Huh?

You can make standalones work with DBW, Phil's AEM does (well I think he sold it, or was selling it, but whatever).

There's nothing wrong with a well configured DBW system and it's something you are going to have to live with in the future, don't expect too many non DBW cars in the future.
